woodland-wreathFor the next Knit Along we are going to be creating a knitted Woodland Wreath. This pattern describes how to make a knitted cover for any size wreath; the patterns designed for it are for different leaves, creatures and flowers with which to smother your wreath. Make them all or just use a few and add other decorations of your choice. The wreath could also be turned into a Christmas wreath with the addition of seasonal decorations, multiple colors, whatever strikes your fancy.

The patterns are free on Ravelry, designed by Frankie Brown, and is composed of 12 different designs, including the cover for a wreath form, hedgehogs, owls, blue bell flowers, holly and berries, toadstools, fat flowers, fir pine cones, mistletoe, acorns and oat leaves, ivy and leaves.

This KAL will begin on November 30th, and goes through December 14th,  Wednesdays, from 5:00 pm to 7:00pm.  We have two different wreath forms available at the shop: 12” and 14”.  While the pattern calls for double knitting weight yarn, we can help you adapt it to use worsted weight yarn instead.

During this Knit-Along you will learn and practice:

  • Color changes (if you desire)
  • Shaping (increase / decrease)
  • Assembly & finishing techniques
  • Minor amount of embroidery on knitted fabric
  • Knitting to fit a form

Supplies Needed:

US 6 – 8 needles

  • Stitch markers
  • Tapestry needle
  • A variety of yarns in different colors with an emphasis on greens and browns
  • Wreath form – available in 2 sizes in the shop
